This publication is the first monographic result of the APART project "Migration Phenomena in the Early La Tène Period" and the Austrian Science Fund project "The Celtic cemetery in Mannersdorf (Lower Austria) in the context of east-west cultural contact". From 1976 to 1984, Heribert Schutzbier and Friedrich Opferkuh from the Mannersdorf Museum, together with the Austrian Federal Department of Sites and Monuments, excavated a total of 96 inhumation and cremation burials from the Early and Middle La Tène periods in the field Reinthal Süd. The artefacts are of high quality, seen primarily in the use of materials such as silver, gold, glass and corals, as well as in their technical workmanship. A major find at the cemetery is a bronze situla, which was imported from northern Italy. Certain areas, like the Middle Rhine, the Champagne or the Balkan, must have been well connected to this Lower Austrian region. An analysis revealed a group of "Lt B1 elite or leading graves", with persons wearing double foot and hand bands and the graves containing precious metals. In the central Danube region, the size of the necropolis in Mannersdorf am Leithagebirge, with its 96 graves, lies midfield. According to a considered but cautious opinion, it is possible that some of those buried in Mannersdorf were a group of people originating from the area of today's Switzerland. An equally possible hypothesis is, and this does not contradict the first view, that here members of an "upper class" are represented. In Mannersdorf am Leithagebirge, Flur Reinthal Süd wurden von 1976 bis 1984 vom Museum Mannersdorf durch H. Schutzbier und F. Opferkuh und dem Bundesdenkmalamt (G. Melzer) insgesamt 96 Körper und Brandgräber der Früh- und Mittellatènezeit ausgegraben. Das Gräberfeld selbst erstreckt sich in nw-so Richtung mit einer Länge von 200 und einer Breite von ca. 45 Metern. Es hat eine Belegungsdauer von Latène A2/B1 bis C1, was einer absoluten Datierung von ca. 400 bis 200 vuZ. entspricht. Die Qualität der Beigaben zeigt sich neben den Materialien Silber, Gold, Glas und Korallen vor allem in der technischen Ausführung der Artefakte. Ein markantes Stück des Gräberfeldes ist eine Bronzesitula, die ein Importstück aus Norditalien darstellt. Bestimmte Gebiete wie das Mittelrheingebiet, die Champagne und das Balkangebiet müssen damals intensive Verbindungen in den niederösterreichischen Raum gehabt haben. Zur Geschlechterverteilung im Gräberfeld ist zu bemerken, dass mit 48 Personen doppelt so viele Frauen wie Männer (24) vorkommen. Es lässt sich eine Gruppe der sogenannten "Lt B1-Elite- bzw. Spitzengräber" herausarbeiten, die sich als die höchste Ausstattungsgruppe mit Doppelfuß- und Handreifen sowie dem Vorkommen von Edelmetall definieren. Die Nekropole gehört mit ihren 96 Gräbern zu den mittelgroßen des mittleren Donaugebiets. Es zeigt sich, dass es sich bei einem Teil der in Mannersdorf Bestatteten eventuell um eine Gruppe von Menschen handelt, die aus dem Gebiet der heutigen Schweiz stammten. Eine ebenso wahrscheinliche These wäre, dass es sich um Angehörige einer "Oberschicht" handelt, die weitreichende wirtschaftliche und verwandtschaftliche Kontakte (und dadurch auch Mobilität) durch den "mitteleuropäischen Korridor" und die anschließenden Gebiete wie Norditalien hatten und dies durch ihre Tracht und den zusätzlichen Besitz zum Ausdruck brachten. Ergänzende Analysen von Bronzematerial, Keramik, Tierknochen, Eisenschmiedetechnik, Goldschmiedetechnik, Textil- und Herstellungstechnik und Steinartefakten stellen einen unverzichtbaren Teil der Darstellung dieses latènezeitlichen Gräberfeldes dar. In this study, 196 young adolescents who reported that they bullied their peers were identified out of a sample of 1,758 students in Grades 5 through 8. After selecting from the total sample a group of nonbullying youth who were matched on gender, school, and grade, a comparison was made of the groups' dating experiences, quality of friend and boyfriend or girlfriend relationships, and acts of physical and social aggression. The results indicated that bullies started dating earlier and engaged in more advanced dyadic dating than comparison adolescents. Bullies were highly relationship oriented, yet their views of their friends and boyfriends or girlfriends were less positive and less equitable than the comparison adolescents. Finally, bullies were more likely to report physical and social aggression with their boyfriends or girlfriends. Although the bullies reported more advanced pubertal development, this factor did not fully account for their dating precocity and negative romantic relationships. The results confirmed our hypotheses that adolescents whose peer relationships are characterized by bullying are at risk in their development of healthy romantic relationships.

Abstract. Droughts are multidimensional hazards that can lead to substantial
environmental and societal impacts. To understand causes and impacts,
multiple perspectives need to be considered. Many studies have identified
past drought events and investigated drought propagation from meteorological
droughts via soil moisture to hydrological droughts, and some studies have
included the impacts of these different types of drought. However, it is not
certain whether the increased frequency and severity of drought events in
the past decade is unprecedented in recent history. Therefore, we analyze
different droughts and their impacts in a regional context using a
multidisciplinary approach. We compile a comprehensive and long-term dataset to investigate possible temporal patterns in drought occurrence and
place recent drought events into a historical context. We assembled a
dataset of drought indices and recorded impacts over the last 218 years in
southwestern Germany. Meteorological and river-flow indices were used to
assess the natural drought dynamics. In addition, tree-ring data and
recorded impacts were utilized to investigate drought events from an
ecological and social perspective. Since 1801, 20 extreme droughts have been identified as common extreme events when applying the different indices. All
events were associated with societal impacts. Our multi-dataset approach
provides insights into similarities but also the unique aspects of different
drought indices.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to understand how young consumers engage in the multi-category context. To that end, engagement on the focal product (dating platforms) and the other product (matrimony platforms) were studied. The objective is to find an answer to the following research question: Why do consumers tend to engage more with the focal product, yet are likely to purchase its complement or substitute?Design/methodology/approachSemi-structured depth interviews and Straussian grounded theory method were used to collect, analyze and interpret the data.FindingsSelf-determination theory provides an answer to the research question. This study suggests: young consumers experience different levels of need fulfilment when they evaluate the focal product in the single-category and in the multi-category contexts; young consumers' motivational orientation (controlled motivation, autonomous motivation and intrinsic motivation) results into high-level behavior and engagement (pleasure-seeking, platform abandonment, goal-oriented pleasure-seeking, goal-oriented problem-solving, anxious and outsourcing) with the focal product and the other product.Originality/valueValue of the paper lies in developing a grounded theory framework for engagement in the multi-category context. This study can help practitioners in making important business decisions, especially in the dating and matrimony e-business categories.
